The anxiety of catching a train

folding illustration, 2021

I thought of starting from myself. I thought of some things I would be anxious about, such as the anxiety of watching the dense audience on the stage, the trembling feet and sweating hands when playing the piano on the stage. Every time I was worried that I would miss the train, I would go out in a hurry. If there was an exam in the morning, I would definitely not have breakfast. Every Sunday and Monday I would feel abnormal Poor. However, the biggest anxiety is to catch the train, but later I feel that my anxiety is stupid. However, when I catch the train next time, I will still be anxious and do such stupid things again and again. This is my own characteristic. I want to show my every silly experience in the form of illustration, and also tell people who have the same anxiety and experience as me that it looks stupid and stupid. Maybe I can use humorous painting to ease the mood of people who have the same trouble with me. I explored many forms. Such as installations, comics, books, albums. Finally, I chose the form of folding, I think long folding can better express my anxiety and tortuous psychology. After that, I refer to some anxious facial expressions to design the protagonist "I" of this story, and according to my own experience of catching the train, I write a storyboard, which is divided into five parts, namely, the night before catching the train, in the room; in the process of catching the train; arriving at the station, waiting for the train; after getting on the train; arriving at the station. And I can think of some elements that represent my mood. The biggest problem is the color and paper experiment, repeated several times, and finally found the blue and red color, as well as the use of ink and watercolor on 300 grams of watercolor paper. After the completion of folding, carve out some hollowed out places, so that the light can pass through the gap, forming an interesting projection.
